As a pioneer of contemporary Christian music, the band Petra was formed in 1972. The members were Paul Simons, John Schlitt, Bob Hartman and Greg Bailey. As one of the most popular Christian rock bands of the 90′s, the group sold out at Christian concert arena’s all over the U.S. and their songs were frequently at the top of the charts. In 2005, the band decided it was time to say farewell and they went their separate ways.
Petra has performed for three decades with 20 albums and 10 million copies sold, has 4 Grammy Awards and 10 Dove Awards to date.
In November 2010, the members of Petra played a live show together for the first time in decades, taping the concert at the Trinity Broadcasting Network studios. It has been released on DVD.
